Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Health Canada & Public Health Agency of Canada is looking for recent graduates in a field of natural sciences to join the Postdoctoral Research Program.

About the Program: The Postdoctoral Research Program provides scientists, who have recently obtained a doctoral degree in a field of natural sciences, with the opportunity to work with research groups or leaders in Canadian government laboratories and research institutions located across Canada.

The Princeton Society of Fellows, an interdisciplinary group of scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and selected natural sciences, calls for fellowship applications annually. Increase your research experience by making a stay abroad!

​Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are aimed at researchers who have done a doctorate and who wish to pursue an academic career in Switzerland. A research stay abroad enables such researchers to acquire more in-depth knowledge, increases their scientific independence and enhances their research profile.

The fellowships include a grant for subsistence costs, a flat-rate for travel expenses and a possible contribution to research and conference costs. In addition, fellowship holders can apply for a return grant to finance their initial period of research after returning to Switzerland. The return grant includes a salary and social security contributions.

The funding period is in principle 24 months (fellowship) and 3 to 12 months (return phase).

The main participation requirements are listed below.

The precise periods are calculated on the basis of the relevant submission deadline.

  • A completed doctorate (PhD, MD-PhD) or completed medical studies in human, dental, veterinary, social or preventive medicine with a doctorate (MD), or completion of the doctorate within the next 9 months.
  • Submission up to 3 years after the doctoral exam (PhD, MD-PhD); the date of the examination, respectively the defence of the doctoral thesis is the relevant date.
  • Medical researchers without MD-PhD: submission up to 8 years after the state examination and at least 3 years of clinical activity after the state examination.

The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents 2021 Call for Applications

Part I: Introduction

The Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) is a non-profit, non-government international organization founded in 2018. Founding members include 37 scientific institutions, universities, and international organizations worldwide. ANSO aims to improve regional and global capacity in science and technology, human livelihoods and wellbeing, and to promote broader S&T cooperation and communication.

The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents (hereinafter referred to as the ANSO Scholarship) was formally launched in 2019 with the goal of training and cultivation of young scientists from all over the world. The ANSO Scholarship supports 200 Master’s students and 300 PhD students every year to pursue postgraduate education at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) or institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) around China.

Currently, CAS, the leading founding member of ANSO, is the sponsor of the ANSO Scholarship. ANSO welcomes all members and parties who are interested in creating a more diversified scholarship program together.

Part II: Coverage

 Tuition waiver

 Monthly stipend:

      Master’s: 3000 RMB/month

      PhD: 6000 or 7000 RMB/month (depending on whether he/she has passed the qualification test arranged by

      USTC/UCAS).

 Health insurance

 Application fee waiver

 Travel subsidy from their home countries to China (one trip per person)

Any scholarship awardee on site in China, the host country, at the time of application will NOT be eligible for any travel subsidy.

Funding duration (NO EXTENSION):

 Master’s program: up to 36 months,

 PhD program: up to 48 months. 

Awardees are required to finish centralized training in Chinese language, Chinese culture and all required credits as well as practical research and completion of degree thesis at colleges and schools of USTC/UCAS or CAS institutes.

Any master’s awardee who fails annual assessments will face the consequence including:

 Termination of his/her scholarship;

 Discontinuity of his/her master’s study.

 Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal master’s degree.

Any PhD awardee who fails the qualification test or annual assessment will face the consequences including:

 Termination of his/her scholarship;

 Discontinuity of his/her doctoral study;

 Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal doctoral degree.

All the awardees are required to abide by Chinese laws and USTC/UCAS regulations and rules.

Part III: Eligibility

Eligible applicants must:

 Not hold Chinese citizenship;

 Be proficient in English or Chinese;

 For master’s program applicants: be born after 1 January 1991 (inclusive);

      For PhD program applicants: be born after 1 January 1986 (inclusive);

 Meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC/UCAS;

 Not take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.

Note:

 If you are currently pursuing a master’s degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the master’s program of this scholarship. 

     If you are currently pursuing a doctoral degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the   PhD program of this scholarship. 

   Otherwise you will be disqualified from admission and the situation will be reported to your current university/institution.

 You are NOT allowed to apply for the ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS simultaneously, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.

Part IV: Step by Step Guideline

In order to successfully apply for the ANSO Scholarship, applicants are requested to follow a few key steps that are indicated below:

1. CHECK ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:  

You should verify that you meet ALL the eligibility criteria for this scholarship (see Part III).

For USTC applicants, it is not mandatory for you to find a host supervisor before application. If you find one that agrees to accept you, you can upload relevant materials as supporting documentation. If not, you will be recommended a supervisor of your research area after screening procedures organized by USTC.

For UCAS applicants, you need to find an eligible professor of your interest that agrees to accept you. See here for a list of eligible schools/institutes and supervisors of UCAS. Send an explanatory e-mail together with your CV, research proposal and other required documents to him/her, and indicate that you wish to apply for the master’s/PhD program of the ANSO Scholarship to UCAS. Your supervisor should finish the required procedure illustrated in the email automatically sent to him/her by the UCAS system immediately after your application materials pass the preliminary review by the institute/college with which the supervisor is affiliated.

2. FINISH YOUR ONLINE ADMISSION APPLICATION TO USTC/UCAS, CHOOSE “THE ANSO SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUNG TALENTS”.

B. File and submit your application in the USTC/UCAS admission system as requested. Choose “the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents” in your application. 

It is better that you prepare supporting documentation in advance, including but not limited to:

1) Copy of your regular passport which has at least 2 years validity;

2) Complete CV with a brief introduction of research experience;

3) Original copy of the certificate of university degrees held

For master’s program applicants: Bachelor’s degree certificate or official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating the expected graduation date.

For PhD program applicants: ①Bachelor’s degree certificate. ②Master’s degree certificate or official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating the expected graduation date.

4) TWO reference letters:

Two referees (NOT the host supervisor) from academia familiar with you and your work should upload their scanned reference letters to the online admission system of USTC/UCAS.

Reference letters in the body of e-mails will NOT be accepted!

5) Detailed research proposal;

6) Photocopies of title pages and abstracts of maximum 5 published academic papers (if available);

7) Proof of knowledge of English and/or Chinese;

 All the above supporting documentation must be in English or Chinese, otherwise notarial translations in English or Chinese are required.

 Make sure the electronic version of supporting documentation is in the right format as requested.

The scholarship will be provided every month throughout the minimum period required to acquire the degree. The amount of scholarship depends on the differs based on the period as below:

 ¥200,000 per month for 1 ~ 2 years degree
 ¥180,000 per month for 3 years degree
 ¥150,000 per month for 4 ~ 5 years degree

Eligibility:

  1. Applicants must be a foreign national with a secondary school graduation diploma or a post-secondary diploma or degree, and an excellent academic record, and be of good moral character.
  2. A person in any of the following categories is ineligible to apply:
  1. An R.O.C. national or an overseas Chinese student.
  2. A person who already has and is continuing to maintain student status at any university or tertiary college in Taiwan or a person who has already registered to begin studies at a university/college in Taiwan. This restriction does not apply to a student who will complete a degree and graduate that year. They may apply for a Taiwan Scholarship to pursue a higher degree.
  3. A person who has already studied in Taiwan for a degree at the same level as the one in which they intend to enroll.
  4. An exchange student or dual/joint degree student who has been admitted to a university/college in Taiwan in accordance with an academic cooperation agreement between the university/college in Taiwan and an overseas university/college.
  5. A person who has held a Taiwan Scholarship for a total of five years.
  6. A person who has ever had a Taiwan Scholarship or MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship revoked.
  7. A person who has received any other scholarship or subsidy from any Taiwan Government agency or any education institution in Taiwan. This does not include any subsidy provided for Taiwan Scholarship recipients by a university/college to cover the outstanding amount of their tuition and other fees if the total amount exceeds the maximum amount paid by the scholarship.
  8. Applicants for a Taiwan Scholarship must apply directly to the university/college for admission. Each university/college sets its own application deadline.

UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE SCHOLARSHIP (UTS)

The University Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a scholarship for excellent students from both EU/EEA as well as non-EU/EEA countries, applying for a graduate programme (MSc) at the University of Twente. The students receive between € 3,000 and € 22,000 for one year.

The University Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a scholarship for excellent students from both EU/EEA as well as non-EU/EEA countries, applying for a Master’s programme at the University of Twente.

  • Become one of the most promising UT students.
  • Exclusive opportunity to take part in an intake for one of the three honours programmes: Research honours, Design honours, or Change leaders.

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE

  • € 3,000 – € 22,000 for one year (approximately 50 scholarships available). If you have applied for a two-year programme, make sure you read the information about two-year study programmes below. 
  • Have a look at the overview of the estimated costs of living when studying at the University of Twente (excluding tuition fees).

Please note: This scholarship is meant as a compensation for study related costs. It is up to the scholarship student to decide how to spend the money. No costs (e.g. tuition fees) will be paid on your behalf.

TWO-YEAR STUDY PROGRAMME

In case of a two-year study programme, students can receive an additional UTS of an amount equal to that in the first year to cover the expenses of the second year. However, the scholarship will only be continued during the second year when students meet the process requirements for the UTS.

You must have obtained:

  • An average grade of 7 (out of 10) at the end of the third quartile of the first year
  • At least 50% of European Credits at the end of the third quartile of the first year

ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

An additional scholarship can be awarded to UTS recipients (only for programmes starting in September 2020):

You need to apply for a University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) in order to be eligible for a Kipaji Scholarship. 

This scholarship has additional requirements. Please make sure you check the information of the Kipaji Scholarship programme.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible for a the University of Twente Scholarship, you should meet all the requirements below  

  • Application for an UT scholarship is a procedure separate from the application for course entry at the University of Twente. Regardless of funding, you will need to gain an admission letter first.
  • You have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying UT Master programmes starting in the academic year 2021/2022 (September). Please note: After completion of your application, it may take up to 8 weeks before you receive the results.
  • You must have a studentnumber.
  • You have not graduated from a UT (under)graduate programme;
  • You comply with the conditions for obtaining an entry visa in the Netherlands (if applicable);
  • You comply with the general English language test requirement Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills
  • You are not eligible for a Dutch study loan;
  • The University Twente Scholarship is a scholarship for excellent students. Typically this means that you belong to the best 5 to 10 percent of your class

  • Application forms closes per 1 February 2021, 16.00 CET (for programmes starting September 2021)

  • Application form closes per 1 May 2021, 16.00 CET (for programmes starting September 2021)

If you applied in round 1, and your application was rejected, an application in round 2 is not considered. You can only be awarded with one UT scholarship.

HOW TO APPLY

START YOUR APPLICATION

You have to apply for a Master’s programme first. Once you applied for a Master’s programme and received a (conditional) admission letter, you can apply for the scholarship with your student number. UTS is not available for Dutch and/or current UT students. The UTS is not available for Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC). The UTS is not available for the pre-Master programme.
