Chongqing Municipal People’s Government in 2021 Mayor Scholarship Application Method

In order to attract outstanding foreign students to study in Chongqing, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government has specially established the “Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Mayor Scholarship for Foreign Students” (hereinafter referred to as the Mayor Scholarship). Welcome to apply for Chongqing Mayor Scholarship to study at Chongqing University.

Applicants: Outstanding foreign students who intend to come to Chongqing University to study for undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees.

Application conditions:

1. Foreign nationals who apply to come to Chongqing University to study for a degree are in good physical and mental health;

2. Applicants for a doctorate degree should have a master’s degree, have excellent academic performance , and be under the age of 40 ;

3. Applicants for master’s degree should have a bachelor’s degree, excellent academic performance, and be under the age of 35 ;

4. Applicants for an undergraduate degree must have a high school degree or above , have excellent academic records, and be under the age of 25 ;

5. Those who have received various scholarships from the Chinese government cannot apply for the Mayor Scholarship.

Scholarship funding criteria and duration:

The scholarship criteria are:

1. Undergraduate: RMB 25,000 per student per year ;

2. Master’s degree students: RMB 30,000 per student per year ;

3. Doctoral students: RMB 35,000 per student per year ;

The duration of the mayor’s scholarship does not exceed the normal academic period of the corresponding degree of the scholarship recipient. Scholarship recipients are required to pay application fees, tuition fees, accommodation fees, insurance fees and other related fees by themselves. Scholarships are issued monthly in the form of living allowances for 10 months.

Application process and materials:

1. Online application

Applicants log in to the online application system ( https://cqu.17gz.org/member/login.do ) and create an account, select ” Chinese Local Government Scholarship ” for the funding category , fill in the application information and upload the following application materials ( the original version is required) Color scan, and the file size of each material should not exceed 1M ).

1) The first page of the passport. The passport should be valid for more than one year . Applicants already in China are also required to provide a copy of their visa or residence permit and the customs stamp of entry.

2) Proof of the highest degree of education. Those who apply for an undergraduate degree must provide a high school graduation certificate; those who apply for a master’s degree must provide an undergraduate diploma and academic certificate; those who apply for a doctoral degree must provide a master’s diploma and academic certificate. Fresh graduates should provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their university. If admitted, they need to provide a formal academic certificate when registering.

3) Academic transcripts. Those who apply for an undergraduate degree must provide high school transcripts; those who apply for a master’s degree must provide their undergraduate transcripts; those who apply for a doctoral degree must provide their master’s transcripts.

4) Study plan or research plan (state personal basic information, personality characteristics, hobbies and specialties, learning motivation, learning goals and learning plan, etc., no less than 800 words).

5) two school art references. Applicants for master’s and doctoral degrees must submit academic recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English. The recommendation letter should introduce the student’s academic or scientific research and the contact information of the recommender (including position, email address, and contact number).

6) Personal resume. It must include the applicant’s personal information, educational background, work experience, scientific research results, paper publication, awards, etc.

7) Proof of language ability. Applicants who apply for English-taught programs and whose native language is not English-speaking countries need to provide proof of English proficiency (IELTS 6 and above / TOEFL 80 and above) or a certificate from the previous academic institution that the previous degree is taught in English, or Proof of having studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year; applicants applying for Chinese-taught programs must provide HSK score report ( level 4 180 points or above, some majors require HSK level 5 or higher, see the professional catalog description for details ) or have Other proofs of corresponding Chinese proficiency.

8) “Foreigner Physical Examination Record” . (Click http://study.cqu.edu.cn/info/1062/1413.htm to download) . This form must be completed in Chinese or English . Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the “Foreigner Physical Examination Record” for inspection. The “Foreigner Physical Examination Record” that is missing, does not have a photo of the person posted, or does not have a seal on the photo, and does not have the signature and seal of the doctor and the hospital is invalid; the attachment of the examination result (blood report, electrocardiogram and chest X Light). In view of the fact that the examination results are valid for 6 months, applicants are requested to plan the medical examination time reasonably.

9) Proof of no criminal record. Applicants must submit a certificate of no criminal record issued by the judicial department of their country. Students or employees in school can provide a certificate of behavior issued by the school or employment agency instead.

11) Students applying for music majors must submit CDs of their own works; students applying for fine arts majors must provide CDs of their own works ( 2 sketches, 2 color paintings, 2 other works);

12) Published papers, award certificates, work or internship certificates and other materials (if any).

Note:  Applicants do not need to send paper application materials, but if they are awarded a scholarship, they must bring the originals of all the above materials when registering (original graduation certificates are required for pre-graduation certificates) for on-site inspection; ②All of the above All materials must be in Chinese or English. If the original is in a language other than Chinese or English, the original notarized Chinese or English translation must be submitted. The certificate issued by the school must provide the name and contact information of the certifier and be stamped with the official seal of the unit.
