Admission Requirements
General requirements for studying in Indonesia are listed below.
Check the institution’s website pages for the programme of your choice to find more information on additional documents.
General requirements:
- Graduated from high school or its equivalent (with the minimum of 12-years-schooling) (for undergraduate applicants)
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant major (for post graduate applicants)
- Master’s degree in relevant major (for doctoral degree applicants)
- Demonstrate good command and knowledge of English as proven by one of the following English language proficiency results:
- Institutional testing program (ITP) TOEFL with a minimum score of 500
- Computer based test (CBT) TOEFL with a minimum score of 173
- Internet-based test (iBT) TOEFL with a minimum score of 61
- IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5 (General Test)
Some faculties may require a higher TOEFL/IELTS score. If the applicant has or will have received a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, he/she does not need to submit TOEFL/IELTS certificate.
The applicants of certain faculties are required to hold an Indonesian language proficiency test (TIBA) certificate with minimum score of 4, or an Indonesian Language Score (BIPA) certificate with a minimum level of 3. If the applicant has or will have received a degree from an institution with entirely the class in Indonesian, he/she does not need to submit a TIBA/BIPA certificate.
Demonstrate good academic grades as shown by his/her academic report/transcript.
Some universities or programmes require the applicants to take an admissions test/examination (for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants)
Documents required
Below is the list of the documents that need to be prepared for the application of study in Indonesia. Some universities or faculties may request the applicant to provide other supplementing documents.
- Valid non-Indonesian passport
- Recent close-up photos
- High school diploma (for undergraduate applicants), Bachelor’s degree diploma (for postgraduate applicants), Master’s degree diploma (for doctoral degree applicants)
- High school transcript (for undergraduate applicants), Bachelor’s degree transcript (for postgraduate applicants), Master’s degree transcript (for doctoral degree applicants)
- Curriculum vitae
- Academic reference/recommendation letter
- English proficiency certificate
- Indonesian language proficiency test certificate
- Motivation statement
- Health certificate
- Financial statement
- Personal statement to obey Indonesian rules and laws and will not involve in any work activities
The applicant can apply online on the admission website of each university. The applicant needs to supply a certified English translation for a non-English document.
